Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game’s First Starter Faction — Castle

As the campaign launch draws closer, we're thrilled to present the first full faction art reveal for Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game. Behold: the timeless and noble Castle.

This is the very first time we’re showcasing the card artwork for this faction. Each piece was created entirely in-house, with creative oversight and guidance from Ubisoft. These illustrations are modern reinterpretations, designed to feel both familiar and unique, suited to a card game format.

Castle is the core faction of the starter set. Noble knights, radiant angels, and disciplined soldiers make this faction both reliable and flexible, which is an ideal entry point for new players and a nostalgic homecoming for veterans.

Let’s meet the lineup:

Pikeman

Pikeman card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – armored infantryman battles enemies in a medieval forest skirmish.

Pikeman, as one of the most common units, is often overlooked… until you have hundreds of them and it's too late for the enemy. Pikeman's artwork emphasizes his cooperative abilities, blending in as one of many, yet also showcasing a familiar but distinctive design. Their role in The Card Game is to support nearby allies, loyally protecting them from harm. They're not flashy, but they're invaluable.

Archer

Archer card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – crossbowmen defend a castle wall during a siege.

Focus, aim, and fire—the Archer is known for being a menace, always hoping for that one perfect shot. The artwork showcasing this unit is light and sharp, with the Archer standing atop Castle walls, prepared for battle. In combat, they offer a risky-but-rewarding ability to snipe enemies even outside their standard range, adding versatility to your formation.

Griffin

Griffin card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – majestic winged beast soars over a lake near mountain peaks.

Soaring the skies, this iconic hybrid of eagle and lion hovers above a mountain lake with Griffin Cliff in the distance, showcasing the grandeur of Erathia’s pride. On the battlefield, Griffins are agile flyers that excel in offense, able to react, retaliate, and reduce incoming harm.

Swordsman

Swordsman card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – warrior defends against undead skeletons in a dark forest.

Reliable and always ready, the Swordsman is a classic frontline fighter. Our artists leaned into a dynamic look for this piece—sword raised, surrounded by chaos, bravely facing the skeleton army. You can expect the Swordsman to be a great opportunistic survivor, able to reposition quickly when others fall, a strategic move that conveys the feeling of his artwork.

Monk

Monk card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – hooded figure channels mystical energy in a cathedral.

Menacing and focused, the Monk is a true embodiment of the power of faith. Standing in the glow of cathedral candlelight, their face hidden under an iconic hood, this artwork captures the Monks’ spiritual nature. But don't be fooled, as always, Monks have their combat edge too. You will meet the Monks as units that can defend nearby allies, and are especially strong in ranged strategies.

Cavalier

Cavalier card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – mounted knight charges into battle with a lance.

A symbol of valor and momentum, the Cavalier charges forward with their brave horse, clad in shiny armor. This artwork represents the power of a mounted assault, inspired by jousting imagery. In-game, this unit is all about traversing and crashing through the frontlines, perfect for turning the tide of battle.

Angel

Angel card art from Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game – celestial warrior descends with a sword among undead hands.

The Angel has always been one of the most majestic units in the entire Might and Magic franchise. It is powerful, graceful, and radiant. Our artists focused on capturing the divinity and the battlefield authority of this legendary being. From the gameplay perspective, you can expect it to support your army while also standing strong on its own.

Designed for the Tabletop

Each of these units was crafted not only to look stunning, but to feel great in-hand. We spent months iterating on style, detail, and clarity to ensure each illustration would resonate with longtime fans and stand strong in the context of a strategic card game.

The Castle faction draws heavily from its roots in the classic computer games, while also expressing new artistic freedom, developed in close ties with Ubisoft’s creative team, to enhance your gameplay and make it feel more dynamic, realistic, and engaging.

Castle is only the beginning. More factions’ details are coming, and very soon. Even more artwork is waiting to be revealed! And yes, we’re almost there.

Stay tuned, adventurer!
