Firstly, we are very grateful for all your support. We announced the new campaign not so long ago, and we already have over 20,000 followers, which is amazing. Working on every expansion for this game involves choices, such as: which heroes we should pick and what new mechanisms we can adapt. Choosing heroes was particularly difficult because there are so many amazing ones. On the other hand, picking a new mechanic was pretty easy since we already had a few things in mind that we wanted to add to the game. In this expansion, we focused on the subterranean location and added Spell Scrolls."
Upcoming Mechanics
Let’s look a little bit closer and show you what the Stronghold expansion for Heroes of Might & Magic: The Board Game will look like. First off, you can expect a new type of tile related to the subterranean location; this is a completely separate zone—to get in or out, you will have to find the subterranean gate. So, even if your enemy has some amazing artifacts like the Angel Wings, they will not be able to enter the subterranean tile without using the gate.
Another new element that can be found in this expansion is Spell Scrolls. These scrolls can be found on the map tiles or in the artifact deck. When a Spell Scroll is obtained, it is placed to one side, similar to the permanent cards. You then draw the first card from the spell deck and place it on the Spell Scroll card. If you are the owner, you can look at it freely. These cards can be sold at the Trading Post for extra gold or used in combat. What’s great about these Spell Scrolls is that they do not count toward your spell or hand limit, so you will have plenty of time to decide what to do with them.
New Components.
In the Stronghold expansion, you can expect 10 new miniatures related to the Stronghold faction: 1 Town, 2 Heroes, and 7 units. There are around 70 new cards and 13 new map tiles, the latter of which are mostly related to the subterranean location. Among the new cards, you will find amazing new spells, artifacts, and specialties that will add to the way you play. We can’t forget about the Stronghold mission book, complete with some awesome scenarios that utilize the new mechanisms and a brand new campaign. And even more new components - a unit leaflet with statistics from all units within this expansion. Many of you lovely backers asked about this in the forums, and because we had so many of you requesting it, we decided to add it as a regular component. It will be a helpful addition during combat between large armies - especially on the battlefield.
Stronghold Campaign for Solo.
A land of barbarians is a place where the soil is rough, and the air resonates with battle cries. A place where only the strong can hope to survive. Yet, it is precisely there that true immortality can be attained—in glorious victories and songs that echo through generations!
The solo campaign will test your might (and magic) with three different scenarios, each focusing on various aspects of the game and offering unique twists on both new and old mechanisms. In one scenario, you will even face the challenge of raising an army composed entirely of neutral units and then confronting the enemy with your rag-tag motley crew of warriors. The story will tell a tale of two barbarians with polar opposite approaches to life—Crag Hack and Yog. You will embark on a journey with these two fierce warriors, united by a common purpose: to crush the malevolent necromancers wreaking havoc in Erathia. All to restore peace to these troubled lands… and maybe, just maybe, become a legend. After all, bards need someone to sing about, right?
