Welcome to Archon Town in Deuslair!

The madness of this Kickstarter campaign is behind us. First of all, we would like to thank you - for whom we all do this for and without whom it would be impossible to achieve a success of over one million Euro in funding. Despite this, I do not want this entry to be cliché and dull; so I decided to open the gates of Deuslair a bit and let the project team members speak… So, with this Deuslair it was like this:

Pure chaos, I can't call it any other way. But all in all, the most interesting things are born out of chaos. - Martyna Włodarczyk, CAD/CAM Team Member

Once upon a time, together with the Game Development team, we developed an outline of a fantasy universe lore for potential use in future Archon Studio projects. When the miniature crowdfunding campaign was laid out on the table, I pulled these files from the drawer and gave them to Aleksander Kubiak - a man who was already writing RPG books and recently finished work on the (Ubisoft-appreciated) fictionalized solo campaigns for "Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Board Game." In turn, the proto-version of the map was received by our 2D artist - Bartosz Winkler. So - in a nutshell - the world of Deuslair was created. The undisputed author of the lore is Alex - but I'm glad that some of my original ideas (including geographic names) have survived. ;-)
The idea to connect our fantasy miniatures with the above lore came from me, and I take responsibility for it. I am aware that many things could have been done better; however, the success of the campaign and the number of new backers confirm that it was worth it. So I can only reiterate - this is not the end of Deuslair; this is just the beginning. - Jakub S. Olekszyk, Project Manager

Multipose models in 3D design were another challenge that we managed to conquer. It was a difficult but satisfying experience for us; we hope that our fans will enjoy the customization. - Bartosław Klupś and Przemysław Zwoliński, members of the Cutting Art Department/CAM

With each new project, we push the boundaries of what can be considered possible; so please, let us continue to surprise you. - Kamila Kościerska, Cutting Art Department/CAM Manager

The hard part is already behind us, but hard work has resulted in great effects, and your satisfaction with the models is priceless for us" - Sylwia Ciszek, member of the Cutting Art Department/CAM

This was my first Kickstarter, and, to be honest, I am pleasantly surprised. This is because, before the launch, I imagined it completely differently. I thought the atmosphere would be tense, chaos would creep into our work, and we would be exhausted after these two weeks. Instead, it is entirely different. Although fatigue can be felt, we’re very satisfied with our work as the new experiences we’ve gained are valuable to us, with the final result being very gratifying. Everything went according to plan, with no significant obstacles. Now we roll up our sleeves and fly on! - Kamil Grochowski, SM/Retail Department Manager

As I sat at my desk, writing yet another paragraph of the campaign, I was taken aback by the sight outside the window. The nearby trees were blooming. Or rather... everything was blooming. Wasn't it still winter? And it's for sure not like I noticed it, thanks to the heavy sneezing on my right, followed by an oddly specific curse about pollen. Recently, I've spent countless hours researching, writing, and editing so much that I lost track of time. Whether that’s a good thing or not, I leave to your own interpretations. But for sure, I am pouring my heart and soul into the drafts. And I'm not saying this just because it's "dark fantasy." The story is already coming along nicely, and the Bestiary is filling up with new entries. I literally have more new cultures to talk about and lands to describe than it will fit in the pages I have been given. But it's all good. This world is not ending on one project, and it will stick with us for some time. Even though I am constantly jumping between moments of inspiration and periods of serious writer's block, the world of Deuslair is steadily expanding.
 - Alex Kubiak, Lore and Campaign Lead

What I loved most about working on World of Deuslair was the change in the narrative - more emphasis on diverse characters. Creating materials for social media and communicating with backers then requires a completely different approach. There are many unique characters in Deuslair that form the basis for great stories. This is something completely new for the Dungeons & Lasers brand.
- Kamil Wargin, Social Media Ninja

I joined the Deuslair project at the very beginning as a lead artist.
Together with the team, our first goal and challenge was to refresh and unify the artistic style of the whole world. In the beginning, together with Bartek Winkler and Ola Kaczmarek, we spent a lot of time collecting visual libraries (mood boards) about elements of the world, cultures, races, and places. A whole new art guide was also prepared, which set the jointly chosen direction for both us - the 2D department and the 3D sculptors.
We decided on a darker and definitely less casual atmosphere than in previous editions, which was followed by a lot of design decisions, such as changing the proportions of characters, items, props, equipment - to more realistic, but still in the canvas of dark fantasy - which I think worked out to be a huge plus :) The scale of the figures has also been changed from 28mm to 32mm (human) - which allowed for greater detail and change of proportions, and adjustment to other systems, where our figures will fit perfectly.
All this was successfully implemented later in action, despite the rapid initial pace of the project.
I am very grateful to the whole team for the trust I received in the project and for the excellent implementation of all arrangements. Of course, there were some small problems along the way, as there usually will be, but I think we managed to overcome everything and achieve great results.
I am very optimistic about the future of projects from the world of Deuslair; with the next ones, we intend to develop an action plan with even greater care, which I believe will translate into better quality and depth of the world, characters, and creatures.
I honestly admit that I can't wait to work on the next editions, on which I will also have a great pleasure to work. We are planning really great things that I hope will appeal to our audience even more.
- Krzysztof Porchowski Jr., Lead Artist

This is how it is in Archon Town, in the world of Deuslair… As you can see, there are so many different voices. I hope you have received them with interest. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize only one thought - this is just the beginning for Deuslair! The best is yet to come!
