Magical memories…
I remember starting work on “Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Board Game” in November 2020. The information about the conclusion of the contract with Ubisoft came to me literally a day after the sad news about the death of Docent Piccolan reached everyone - He was the main person behind the fan mod "Horn of the Abyss."
From one fan to another - thank you!
After months of tests and various concepts, we launched a crowdfunding campaign in 2022 dedicated to "Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Board Game" on the Kickstarter platform, which turned out to be a huge success, with almost 27,000 backers and almost EUR 4,000,000 raised. Thousands more people joined the project in the recently closed Pledge Manager on the Gamefound platform.
At this point, I would like to thank all of you who contributed to this amazing success which has allowed us to transfer the wonderful world of Enroth to the tabletop!
I can also say with great happiness that we have kept our promises - after three years of intensive work, the game is ready for shipping!
We have re-created “Heroes III”
We did our best to pay tribute to the original video game. Because of this, our board game reflects a lot of mechanics known from "Heroes III" - competitive scenarios, cooperative and solo campaigns (with narrative parts), epic battles, and exploration of fascinating lands. In addition, we offer high-quality miniatures of heroes and units - something that really "materializes" the memories for many of us.
As of right now, we have implemented 7 of the original 9 factions from "Heroes of Might and Magic III" to the tabletop - Castle, Dungeon, Necropolis, Rampart, Fortress, Tower, and Inferno, but we’ve also released the unique “Battlefield” expansion, which focuses on creating a more extensive combat system which more closely resembles the original video game. We have devoted many blog entries to details and specific mechanics.
What's next? - Stronghold and subsequent factions
Some people have probably started to wonder - what about the remaining factions? No worries! We have already started work on the Stronghold expansion, which will be available directly in stores next year. As a teaser of what’s to come, please have a look at the illustrations of the Orc and Behemoth, drawn by Viviane Tybusch Souza.
Estimated expansion content includes:
-
Mission Book containing a themed solo campaign and new scenarios
-
Town Board
-
7 Map Tiles
-
2 Hero Models
-
Several dozen cards
-
New mechanics (we will inform you about the details through these blog posts!)
-
7 Unit Models
-
1 Town Model (on a hexagonal base)
-
Token Set
Of course, Conflux is also on our list! We are considering various options on how to design the town. For example, would you prefer an Energy Elemental available as a faction unit and a Fire Elemental as a neutral unit? Or should we give up on upgraded units and stick to just the basic elements?
Oh, and we also want to develop the 10th town - Cove! More details to come in a future blog post!
The future of Erathia looks exciting!
