ARCHON AT DESIGNER CAMP 2023

Greetings Everyone,

From the 19th to the 22nd of October 2023, we had the privilege of attending Designer Camp International in Puszczykowo, Poland. This event stands out as one of the best networking and learning opportunities for designers in Eastern Europe, and our recent participation only confirms this. The atmosphere was truly inspiring, providing plenty of avenues for professional growth.

Educational Insights

Our entire Game Design Department staff participated in this exceptional event, attending a multitude of enlightening lectures. Jason Matthews' captivating presentation on "The Death of the Euro" and Rory O’Connor's fresh perspective on the board game creation process were particularly noteworthy. We also had the pleasure of attending Michał Gryń’s lecture, which covered the fundamentals of collaboration with publishers and game design. These lectures serve as a valuable resource for designers and will likely be accessible through the event's official channels.

Prototype Exploration

We had the honor of meeting many talented designers and exploring more than 30 prototypes over the course of the weekend. To maximize our exposure to the diverse pool of contestants, we divided our team into smaller groups. This approach allowed us to engage with the majority of participants and identify promising prototypes with potential for future success. At the same time, we received invaluable feedback and suggestions for improving our own games. Furthermore, it was a delight to hear praise for "Heroes of Might & Magic: The Board Game" from fans of the PC version, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to them.

Master of Orion - Development Milestones

During Designer Camp, we seized the opportunity to showcase our prototype of "Master of Orion: Ad Astra." This unveiling marked a momentous occasion, giving us an unmissable opportunity to conduct extensive playtesting in advance. We are elated to report that the game was well-received by players. Throughout the event, we conducted over 30 hours of gameplay tests, reaching a key milestone in our development journey. Our primary objective is to create a 4X gaming experience that is both captivating and concise, avoiding the common pitfalls of time-intensive gameplay. The positive feedback from testers is especially valuable to us as many of them are accomplished authors, with many successful titles in their name. This truly reaffirmed our vision for this project. Additionally, we had the privilege of playing our prototype with Jason Matthews, the esteemed designer of "Twilight Struggle," gaining insights from his wealth of experience. In the near future, we will unveil pre-production versions of the game components, promising an undoubtedly special experience for our fans.

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support.
